Hi everyone, well today was the day

I went to the rheumatology department and saw the nurse, it was a research specialist nurse as i am taking part in some research that Guys are doing in collaboration with other consultants at different hospitals. So first it was the turn of the bloods, nine phials, very slowly drawn as my veins are awful

After this, she went through the general information of how to do the injection then I practised with the pretend one. After that I did the real thing, it went ok, but its beginning to sting now, but itch too, I am very strange!! Anyway, lets hope this helpsSmile ThumpUp

Hi Barbara

Here's hoping this is the one that makes all the difference for you Smile You will soon get used to injecting, it's a doddle after the first few! I had a good 7/8 years (must check my dates!) on Enbrel, fantastic drug, even managed to climb a few mountains ThumpUp Hope the 'sting and itch' (there's a title for a film!) clear up quickly.

Are you joining us in Coventry? It would be lovely to meet you Smile

Hello there. I just wanted to tell you that my friend in America who has severe RA has been almost seized up for 18 months. She has been unable to comb her hair and had to use a wheelchair if walking more than a few steps. She now has Cushings because of the extremely high dose of steroids she has been on all that time.....anyway, I'll get to the point. She started on Humira 3 months ago and her frozen shoulders have just begun to loosen up to the point where she was able to put her hair in a pony tail for the first time in 18 months and is now walking much further again. I am so happy for her and we are both looking forward to her continuing progress. I know everyone is different but I just thought you might find this account encouraging. Best wishes from Naomi.

hi Barbara,

the injections really do get easier, i always get a slight sting but it doesn't last for long.

i really hope it works for you,

i've been on it 7 months now, and at my 6 month follow up i was told i am now in clinical remission, ( i put a post on Suzanne Humira Thread under drugs section ) i feel a whole heap better .. my middle finger joint was double the size and is now back to normal. my shoulders used to ache but they are fine now. i just get fatigued some days but nothing i can't cope with,

good luck ThumpUp

Good luck with the new treatment Barbara, hope it works well, you'll soon get used to the injecting bit, just seems a bit weird to be doing it to yourself to begin with! We're a funny lot aren't we with such a variety of results and reactions from the same meds! But with so many folk doing really well on it, its got a good chance of doing well for you so best wishes Hope you'll be feeling better soon.
Wow Lynn, I'm just wondering, did you mean that you were literally able to climb mountains or was that just a figure of speech???? You've giving me new hope!

Good luck with the next injection Barbara; hope you get a fast response to the Humira and it helps with the fatigue. You have had so many difficulties of late, it's time you got a break from it!

Yes, Zena, I did actually climb mountains! Latrigg 1200ft, Cat Bells 1480ft and Skiddaw 3054ft, all Northern Fells in the Lake District, Cumbria. That was 5 years ago, after surgery to both feet and one knee, thumb fusion and wrist replacement. At the moment I can hardly get upstairs!!

There's always hope guys, hang in there!

Hi everyone, its so lovely to get such kind responsesSmile Smile I did my second injection today, it did sting a bit, but its not so bad reallyHuh

My delivery came today too, so I'm all set for the next month

I have a rheumatology appointment on 16th April, so will see the consultant then, so will get an idea of how he thinks things are going.

I have some other symptoms, but I'm not sure if theyre RA related, so wont go into that here

Happy Easter everyone, enjoy your break, and if you are lucky enough to go away, I hope the weather is favourable Smile

Hi,

I am having my first Humira injection tomorrow, and am feeling rather anxious. I have tried lots of different things and am currently taking Hydroxy, Prednisolne, Celecoxib, 5mg mtx, folic acid amytriptilyne, Butrans pain patches, along with the pain tablets. I am in so much pain that I am getting really down with it all so have been prescribed Fluroxitne!!.I have also had 4 depo injections since October. I was diagnosed in November and have been off work since September. I just want my life back so am really hoping this new medication will work fast,,

Hello Everybody

Well I did have my second injection of Humira yesterday and I did it myself Yipee!!! It took a little bit of coaching and coaxing from my partner but hey I did it. I'm still not feeling any benefit from it but I am informed that it could take up to 12 weeks...... I've heard that before but am determined to stay optimistic. I don't know about anybody else but I feel absolutely washed out the the day after taking it Ive slept for most of the afternoon and missed all of this glorious sunshine.....

Hope everyone is as well as can be and enjoying the weather whilst it lasts. I'll keep you all posted on the new treatment and fingers crossed it starts to kick in soon.
